| The Bee Line is the newsletter
of the Maine State Beekeepers
Association. It is published bi-monthly for the months of
February, April, June, August, October, and December. The
production schedule and the contents of the newsletter are timed to
coincide with the “Beekeeper’s Calendar”. This is the yearly
sequence of events observed in nature which impact hive activities and
determine the responsibilities and actions of the beekeeper. The goal of each issue is to provide the reader with the latest news and advice from Tony Jadczak, the State Apiarist, notice of local events, information from the various MSBA chapters, notice of “bee schools” held throughout the State, instructional articles, recipes, and a list of important contacts that may be reached for assistance. The paper version of the Bee Line, mailed to the MSBA membership, is the best form of communication possible in a rural state like Maine. It is critical that all members know what is happening with honeybees, in Maine and beyond. There are members who do not own or have access to computers and members who do not subscribe to magazines such as Bee Culture and American Bee Journal. There are also members who do not belong to a local chapter or beekeeping club. The one thing that everyone has in common is a mailing address. The paper version of the newsletter will be mailed until the entire membership has access to email. In the near future, there will be an option to receive issues of the newsletter by email and the ability to view back issues on this web site. Your help is needed to generate a valuable newsletter. Please contact the editor with any news, stories, photos, or ideas. Your background, opinions, and expectations are useful to determine the appearance of the newsletter and its content. |
